Research Interests:
Neural, hormonal, and genetic regulation of cellular oxidative metabolism, energy balance, obesity, and thermogenesis; intracellular signal transduction, role of cytosolic pH in effecting/modulating uncoupling of mitochondria, and role of ion movements in thermogenic events; effects of aging, nutritional, and environmental factors on brown fat thermogenesis; mechanisms underlying altered homeostasis during aging.
